Linking to Gallery pictures in the Forum

One great feature of our new gallery is that you now have the ability to show off your gallery pictures, here in the forum. You no longer have to use Photobucket or Imageshack to host your pictures.

I've created a quick "how to" to do this.

First, post your pictures in our gallery. If you don't know how to do this, please check out this tutorial

Second, click on the photo you want to share in the forum. Above the picture, there is an I in a circle. This icon shows and hides the file information. Click it to reveal information below the photo.

Next, look at the information below the photo. The orange arrow is the actual link to the photo. That link will take anyone directly to the photo. It's handy, but not what we're looking for right now.

Look at the green arrow. There are two options for posting your pictures.
The Insert Linked Thumbnail option will create a tiny photo in your forum post that will link back to the gallery. This is nice if you're posting several pictures.
The Insert Linked Full Image option will show the full size picture in your forum post. This is nice if you're posting fewer pictures, and you want everyone to be able to see detail.

That's actually all there is to it. Just paste either line of code into your forum post, and you're ready to go!

Please PM me if you have any questions!

One more "advanced" step.

If a picture is too big to use the larger size, but too small to view from a thumbnail, you MIGHT have a 3rd option!

First, post a picture using the thumb sized version. Then, look at the link that you're using. Try replacing the word "thumb" in the link with "normal". For most pictures you can make it bigger by changing "thumb" to be "normal"

Good luck!
